2008 Employers who have told us they would like to hire Juneau Summer Project students:

Chapel by the Lake would like to hire greeters for the summer to greet the non-stop tour buses who stop by the Chapel each day. Contact Donthan at Chapel by the Lake to apply:  907-789-7592

Alaska Sea Planes wants to hire "Rampers" to shuttle passengers out to the water runway and back, handle baggage, etc. A five year driving history is required for this job. Contact Joe Fanazick, 907-723-0154, or email at: joe7ac@yahoo.com

Alaska Juneau Mining Co. wants to hire students this summer. This is a t-shirt and gift shop downtown, and is a fantastic place to work, and build friendships with co-workers.  Toni Murphy, tonimurphy@acsalaska.net   (907) 463 -5595 We've had students work here for the past four years, and everyone has loved this job.

Glacier Gardens would like to hire 2-4 students from our Project. 907-789-5166. You'll spend each day driving tourists through the rain forest giving tours while explaining the species of trees/plants in the rainforest. This is a sweet job where you'll meet a lot of people, and have the opportunity to connect with co-workers. We've had students work here during the past two summers, and they enjoyed their job.

Alaska Fudge Company needs 1-2 guys. 907-586-1478 ask for Debby. We had a student who worked here last year. Almost every tourist from the cruise boats stops by the Alaska Fudge Company.

Alaska Knife Works needs 2 guys. One more tailored towards sales/retail, the other with a knowledge of hunting/fishing/outdoors that could sell knives and relate to hunters. 907-321-4808, David Summer's personal cell. We've had students work here in past years, and they loved selling high end knives each day to tourists. If you are good at sales, this is most-likely the highest paying job you will find in Juneau.

Southeast Waffle Co. - needs 1 guy 907-789-2030 ask for Julie. We have a close friendship/partnership with the Southeast Waffle Co. It's right by campus and a popular place to hang out. We've had guys work here each summer. Julie is really cool.

Fred Meyer will take us all. :) 907-781-6539 or apply online. This is a Wal-Mart type of store that is massive. They pay well, and they would like to employ our entire project. The down-side is that guys work by themselves almost all day stocking shelves, and the opportunities to connect with customers/co-workers is minimal.

The following employers have hired Juneau Men's Project guys on the Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, or Delta Projects:

Valley Lumber: (907) 789-7500  Talk to the owner, Dan. He's a cool guy and a big supporter of our Summer Project. If you work at Valley Lumber you'll be working in the lumber yard, and going out on deliveries. Guys that worked at Valley Lumber every summer have loved their job, and have enjoyed building friendships with co-workers.

Don Abel Building Supply:  (907) 789-2155  This is a job where you do everything from work in the yard, to wait on customers. We've had guys work here for each of  the past four Summer Projects, and guys have enjoyed working here. This job is around a five minute drive from campus.

Goldbelt Tours. This is the company that runs the Tram in downtown Juneau. They have a restaurant and gift store at the top of the Tram on Mt. Roberts. We had guys work in the restaurant on the Alpha and Charlie Projects. Contact the manager: George Reifenstein Jr. 463-3412 George.Reifenstein@goldbelt.com

Construction Jobs: Check the JuneauEmpire.com. What will get you hired is if you say you will work hard, and you will show up for work. You will receive a lot of money for working, but the downside is you won't have many ministry opportunities on the job.

ATA:  http://bestofalaskatravel.com/alaska_travel_adventures/alaska_travel_adventures.htm  On the Charlie Project we had guys work at ATA rafting guides. On the Delta Project we had guys work as Kayak guides.
