The 2006 Juneau Summer Project (Charlie Project)

The mission of the Juneau Men's Project - Charlie Project is equip men to walk with God and share their faith as a way of life for the rest of their lives. Juneau is an island of a community (30,000 with no roads in or out)  where our reputation is a big part of our outreach into the community. The Charlie Project will focus on building relationships in the community, work, and on campus. Part of our outreach will be through service projects in the community, and through spending time with kids in a Native Alaskan village located on an island a 20 minute plane ride from Juneau.

The Project will bring together 30 college aged men and 9 Campus Crusade for Christ Staff for 10 weeks of experiencing Southeast Alaska. As a student on the Juneau Men's Project you will work a 30-40 hour job in the community. Outreaches, training, manhood development, and small groups will take place in the evenings and on weekends.

The Charlie Project is all about setting men on the the path to being Godly spiritual leaders for the rest of their lives. In the context of a transformational community of 30 men, guys will sort out their passions and giftedness, giving opportunities to serve both on the Project and in the community. Plus the friendships men will build with each other will be life-impacting. The training, personal discipleship, and experience men receive in sharing their faith will impact eternity.

The Name

The term "Charlie" originates from the Allied Signals Book. Signals are sent as letters and/or numbers, which have meanings by themselves sometimes or in certain combinations. The widely known alphabet from Alpha Bravo to Yankee Zulu is used for spelling things out over voice links, and the term analogy alphabet is used.

In 2004 the first Juneau Men's Project named the Alpha Project, began a legacy by seeing college men come together in Juneau, Alaska for the purpose of building a foundation to walk with God and be ambassadors for Christ for a lifetime. Lives in Juneau were impacted for eternity, but that was only the beginning.

During the summer of 2005 the Bravo Project came together for a summer of growth and life-change. But the best is yet to come. During the summer of 2006 the Charlie Project will take place with the mission of equipping 30 college-aged men to walk with God and share their faith as a way of life for a lifetime.

Subsequent years will bring the Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, Golf, Hotel, India, Juliet, Kilo, Lima, Mike, November, Oscar, Papa, Quebec, Romeo, Sierra, Tango, Uniform, Victor, Whiskey, Xray, Yankee, and Zulu Projects to Juneau.
