2006 Juneau Men's Project Jobs:

You are free to start securing your summer job in Juneau as soon as you want to. By the time we arrive, Juneau will be 3 weeks into the tourist season. What that means is that many of the jobs associated with tourism will already be filled. Many employers in Juneau are familiar with our Summer Project and the quality of the men on our Project--and many will hold jobs until you arrive if you apply in advance.

When you apply for a job, you’ll be asked about your availability for work. Here’s a list of what you’ll need to know and share with potential employers:

·         Your first day available for work is Tuesday May 30.

·         Your last day of availability for work will be Saturday, Aug 5.

·         You may work anytime from Monday - Saturday from 6 a.m. – 5 p.m.

·         You’ll work only five days a week, so you have one day off a week besides Sunday. We’ve scheduled this day for you to meet with your Action Group leader and have extra time off.

·         You may not exceed a total of 40 work hours per week.

·         We expect you to work 30-40 hours per week.

·         You may not work on Sundays.

·         You will need Monday, June 26th off for our mid-project camping trip.

You need to e-mail Jason at jason.coorts@uscm.org, or call him at 417-894-9986, before accepting any job offer. It is incredibly important for the sake of our unity and getting the most out of our time in Alaska that all jobs fit within the structure of our summer project. In addition, we want to spread guys out to as many locations as possible to have the greatest impact, and not have a majority of our Project students working together.

For the most part, jobs are located in the "Valley" or "Downtown."  The Valley is approximately 5 miles (10 minutes) from our Project housing on the University of Alaska-Southeast campus. Downtown is approximately 15 miles (25 minutes) from our Project housing. Buses run every hour from where we live to both the Valley and Downtown.
