We were told to come up with two sentences to describe our summer to other people. I have two words: awesome and transformational.
Awesome: There is no way to even begin to describe living with thirty two other guys for just over ten weeks, so I'm not going to try. What I can say is that over those ten weeks I had more true and real male fellowship then all my life prior to this summer. We were true, real, open and honest with each other and I can call these men my brothers; not in the way all Christian men are my brothers, but in a way that is as close as blood. I would lay my life down for them and I know they would be willing to lay theirs down for each other.
Transformational: The Lord did more in my heart and soul over those ten weeks and with those men then I can remember since the day I accepted Christ. I have begun to understand the paradox of Christianity and what manhood is all about because these men have lived it and I have too. Leadership is servanthood. True life is dieing daily. I learned rejecting passivity, leading courageously, accepting responsibility and expecting God's greater rewards. And that isn't just head knowledge like before, but I accepted it as true to my heart. My perspective changed on my life and I can now say I am a man of God living with eternal perspective and being shown a heart for the world.
I have a few questions for those who read this: Are you really living in the Spirit if you don't spread His Word? Do you deny your self each day, take up your cross and follow Him? Are you passive? Who is at the center of your life? Do you know what being a man of God is all about? If you don't know the answer to any of these questions, then I BEG you to find out, and Juneau is a great place to find those answers.
